A reflection on World Book Day…

Yesterday, was world book day apparently, not sure if they were really celebrating it in Mongolia, but any promotion of book reading must be a good thing…

We didn’t go for the dressing up malarkey https://www.worldbookday.com/dressing-up/ at Just Books, as we’re not in the fancy dress business, but we did sell some vintage kids’s books from our large in-store range of children’s literature to some anxious parents.

Visiting one of the nations leading supermarkets yesterday evening looking for some green eggs and ham, one couldn’t help but notice some bored staff dressed up as possibly Harry Potter characters, as part of an opportunist promotion campaign being undertaken by the grocer, in their ever-increasing attempts to break into the book market.

So perhaps next year I will dress as Willy Wonka and start selling chocolate…
