The shop will not be re-opening for business next week, even though current government advice allows non-essential shops to open from the 15/6/20.
My wife has a pre-existing health condition and needs to remain shielding, therefore we both need to be cautious and restrict the amount of people we engage with. Also the shop is very small and crowded with books, which will make it hard to practice appropriate social distancing, without removing a large amount of stock and establishing a range of restrictions on customers.
It is likely that a good number of our customers will still be hesitant about shopping face to face in store whilst Coronavirus is still significantly present in the UK. With the added likelihood of low footfall in Truro and a decline in visitors this summer, it may well not be worthwhile opening for very low trade, whilst the situation we all find ourselves in is still so uncertain.
We will be reviewing the situation on a regular basis and aspire to re-open at some point in the near future.
