Just Books Falmouth…

After a year of being primarily an on-line bookseller, Just Books opened a new shop in Falmouth this summer.

The bookshop is within St Georges Arcade, Church Street, Falmouth, right in the heart of Falmouth town centre. Usual trading hours are between 12 and 4 in the afternoon, except for Wednesdays and Sundays when the shop is closed. The shop which trades in vintage and second-hand books is specialising in Children’s books, Art and books about Cornwall.

The business traded in Truro for over three decades, having previously been located in Pydar Mews, within the city centre. Proprietor Guy Doncaster, says “It’s very exciting to be based in Falmouth, its a thriving town compared to others in Cornwall, with a good range of independent shops and amenities, as well as a great seaside location. The town has an interesting demographic, with a varied mixture of locals, visitors and students”. Mr Doncaster added “Its a bookish town, with two great existing secondhand bookshops, a book pub and an independent bookshop selling new books, as well as a radical bookshop and café trading next door to us, making Falmouth the key location for book buyers to visit in Cornwall”.

Guy reflected “I have lived in Falmouth for over 35 years, in recent years I have worked in other towns within Cornwall, but it is good to be back working in your home town and whilst running a bookshop is an enjoyable experience, people do need to support ‘brick and mortar’ bookshops and use their town centre’s as otherwise they will disappear and change beyond recognition.”
